Deadly Drabble Tuesdays

Tuesdays suck. Let’s make them better.

This is an ongoing submission call. It’s never closed! (Unless it is. I’ll update here.)

We’re looking for horror, weird, and dark drabbles (defined here as 100-word microfiction, no more, no less) that use their limited space to big effect. Terrify us. Make us laugh out loud. Make us squirm in our seats. Gross us out. Hit us as hard as you can! One story will be accepted every week.

Accepted genres: Horror, weird, dark, sci-fi, fantasy (although pure sci-fi or fantasy will be a hard sell)

Word count: 100 words EXACTLY (firm)

Pay: $8 flat, paid via PayPal on contract signature (works out to $.08 per word)

Details: Story will be featured on the Hungry Shadow Press website with the option for HSP to include the story in a future print volume (no details on this yet, it’s just speculation for now—if your story is chosen for the print volume, you’ll be contacted).

Story should be a Word file (.doc, .docx), in something approximating standard manuscript format.

How to submit: Attach your Word document to an email with a brief cover letter in the body (I just want to know who you are, not your past publishing achievements). The subject line should read “Submission - DDT - [Story Title]”. Send your email to [email protected].

I expect a fair few submissions, and I’m just one guy so I cannot stress this enough—failure to follow the guidelines will result in immediate rejection! Seriously, I won’t even read it.
